  • Description: The Abernathy brothers, Louis and Temple, are remembered for undertaking several solo "Ocean To Ocean" journeys starting from 1909 at the ages of 9 and 5. In 1911, they rode on horseback from New York to San Francisco in 62 days, setting a new speed record for that time. Their story was also brought to the screen in the film "The Ride" (2003), which tells the story of the two young explorers' adventures
