- Description: Neil Peart, renowned drummer for the rock band Rush, was also an avid traveler and writer. Beyond his musical career, Peart is famous for his extensive motorcycle journeys often undertaken during and after Rush's tours. These adventures became the basis for a series of travel memoir books. One of his most notable journeys is described in the book "Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road". After facing the tragic loss of his daughter and wife within a short period, Peart embarked on a 55'000-mile motorcycle journey across North and Central America. This trip was an attempt to find a path to healing and personal reflection. In "The Masked Rider: Cycling in West Africa", Peart recounts another travel experience, this time cycling through Cameroon. During the journey, he faced physical and cultural challenges, exploring the complexities of life and traditions in Africa. Peart also wrote about travels through Europe and various parts of the United States, merging his passion for writing, music, and motorcycling

I’ve been trying to set a few modest goals, both daily and weekly. In the course of a day, it’s good to get some stupid things accomplished, and off your “list". I guess because it leaves you feeling that you and the “rest of the world” still have something to do with each other!
- Description: Elizabeth Ann Yates, born in Halifax in 1883, undertook a long walking journey around the world. After moving to Canada and marrying in New York in 1910, she walked to Florida with her husband. In 1911, she accepted a wager to walk 48,000 miles in four years. She left from New York, crossed Canada, and reached England. After parting ways with her husband, she continued alone through Scandinavia, Russia, and Europe. To support herself, she sold postcards and gave talks. She ended the journey at the start of the First World War. She died in Florida in 1960. Her travel items are now held in Caldedale museum

- Description: In November 1963, Ken Kesey traveled to New York City with his wife Faye and George Walker to attend the Broadway opening of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," based on his 1962 novel. During the trip, he visited the construction site of the 1964 New York World's Fair. In 1964, Kesey had to return to New York for the publication party of his novel "Sometimes a Great Notion" and planned to visit the Fair. This plan evolved into an ambitious expedition with a group of friends, inspired by Jack Kerouac's novel "On the Road." As more people joined the trip, the group outgrew Kesey's car, so he bought an old yellow school bus for $1'250. The bus, originally equipped for the seller's family vacations, was further customized by the Pranksters with a generator, a sound system, a rooftop platform, and an observation turret. The bus was painted in psychedelic colors and named "Furthur" by artist Roy Sebern, as inspiration to keep going despite difficulties. The bus's last journey was to the Woodstock Festival in 1969. Afterwards, it was used on Kesey's farm in Oregon until 1983, when it was abandoned in a swamp. Eventually, it was recovered and stored in a farm warehouse

- Description: Patrice and Françoise Ryder set off on a tandem journey around the world on October 4, 1978. They say goodbye to their family in Paris, on the Champs-Élysées, and begin pedaling eastward. They cross Switzerland, northern Italy, and head down the Yugoslav coast, but mechanical issues and bad weather force them to stop in Dubrovnik for Christmas. From there, they decide to take a ferry to Greece to avoid the snow in Montenegro. They pass through Corfu, reach Athens, and then fly to Israel. Unable to cross Jordan, Iraq, and Iran due to political reasons, they fly to Cyprus and then on to Pakistan. In Karachi, a new chapter of their journey begins: Asia. From Lahore, they cycle to New Delhi and, on September 22, 1979, they cross the Himalayas to enter Nepal. They reach Kathmandu and later fly to Bangkok. After a second trip through Thailand, they continue by bike toward the Cambodian border, but the Khmer Rouge crisis forces them to change course. They head south and, in June 1980, enter Malaysia and then Singapore. They fly to Darwin, Australia, to begin a new leg of the journey: crossing the continent from north to south while raising funds for charity. They sleep in the bush, marvel at the endless Australian landscapes and the country’s natural beauty. The article published in 1981 in the Australian magazine Trochos reflects on their journey after 900 days on the road and 18'300 kilometers traveled

- Description: Alexis Alford, also known as Lexie Limitless, is a traveler renowned for completing several remarkable feats. She holds the record as the youngest person to visit all 196 sovereign countries in the world, an achievement accomplished at the age of 21. In 2023-2024, she undertook another significant challenge: a journey around the world in a fully electric vehicle, a Ford Explorer. This trip, called "Charge Around The Globe," covered over 30'000 kilometers, crossing 27 countries and six continents. The endeavor was inspired by Aloha Wanderwell, who a century ago completed a similar world tour with a Ford Model T, and showcased both the potential and limitations of electric mobility
