- Description: Dave Barr was a Vietnam veteran, and the first double amputee to circumnavigate the globe on a motorcycle. In 1990, riding a 1972 Harley-Davidson Super Glide with no support, he spent approximately 3,5 years covering 83,000 miles (134,000 km) across six continents. In 1996‑1997, he set a record by traversing Europe, Russia, and Siberia in winter, covering 13,000 miles (20,900 km) under extreme conditions. In 2002, he completed Australia’s four cardinal extremes in 10,000 miles (16,000 km) in 45 days, known as the “Southern Cross” ride
