- Description: Gertrude Bell, born into a privileged British family, became a renowned traveler, archaeologist, and political officer. Her uncle, Sir Frank Lascelles, was the British minister in Tehran, which she visited in 1892, describing it as "paradise". Her travels extended to the Middle East, where she became fluent in several languages and developed a passion for mountaineering, even naming a peak in the Bernese Alps after her. She published several books, including "Persian Pictures" and "Syria: The Desert and the Sown", sharing her insights on the regions she explored. Notably, her travels led to her imprisonment in Ha'il and eventual election as a Fellow of the Geographical Society
