- Description: Born on 9 August 1936 in India, Satish Kumar, a former Jain monk and peace activist, set off from New Delhi in June 1962 together with his friend E. P. Menon on a peace pilgrimage to the four nuclear capitals of the world - Moscow, Paris, London and Washington D.C. The two walked approximately 12,875 km (8,000 miles) in two and a half years, carrying no money and relying entirely on the hospitality of strangers. The route passed through Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, the Soviet Union, Poland, East and West Germany, Belgium, France, England, the United States and Japan. Along the way they delivered a packet of "peace tea" to the leaders of each nuclear power. The journey is recounted in Kumar's book Pilgrimage for Peace (2020)

- Description: Walter Küpper was a German long-distance moped traveller. Inspired by a book about round-the-world motorcycle riders, he departed in 1959 on a 1.2 hp, three-speed Miele moped - which he had already tested the previous year on a holiday ride to Turkey - and completed a round-the-world journey over 902 days, returning in 1962. His route covered Europe, Turkey, Persia, India, Malaya and Australia. In Japan, media interest in his story had grown to such a degree that press were waiting for him at the dockside, and the Bridgestone Motorcycle Company donated a new moped for the final leg across the United States and back to Europe. In the United States, by contrast, his journey attracted no attention. He covered approximately 72,000 km (45,000 miles) in total and recorded five hours of Super-8 cine film during the journey. He recounted his experiences in Tausend Tage Abenteuer ("One Thousand Days of Adventure"), published in 1966

- Description: Eitel Lange was a German photographer who had served as official photographer to Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring during World War II. Between 1952 and 1954, he and his son Rolf Lange completed a round-the-world journey on a 597 cc, 28 hp Zündapp KS 601 flat-twin with a Steib sidecar, nicknamed "Taksy" - a name derived, according to Bernd Tesch, from "take it easy". Their route covered Europe (Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, Turkey), Asia (Iran, Pakistan, India, Ceylon, then by ship to Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan, riding overland in Japan), and the Americas (by ship to Hawaii, then North America, returning by ship to Europe). During the journey they interviewed film star Errol Flynn and met Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi of Iran. The "Taksy" sidecar outfit is on permanent display at the German Motorcycle Museum in Neckarsulm. The journey contributed significantly to the legendary status of the Zündapp KS 601, known as the "Green Elephant". In 1956-57, Eitel Lange and his wife Ilse completed a further one-year round-the-world journey, this time in a Goggomobil T 300 microcar
