During that period, she accompanied her husband on the Sydney-Bega route, a journey of 300 miles (483 km), averaging 60 miles (97 km) a day. - Description: Kate Marsden was a British nurse and missionary, best known for her extraordinary journey to Siberia at the end of the nineteenth century. Motivated by philanthropic zeal, she set out to reach the leper colonies of Yakutia. In 1891 she departed from Moscow and travelled roughly 11,200 km (7,000 miles) by horse, sledge, and on foot, facing extreme cold and isolation. - Description: The American traveler referred to in different sources as Martinet, Tal H. Martinet, or Hippolyte Martinet left Seattle on 19 April 1920, barefoot and without money, intending to circle the globe. He carried basic camping gear and was accompanied by a small dog. Along the way, he signed postcards and promoted ideas such as “return to nature for human regeneration” and “a universal language for human harmony". After crossing the United States, he reached Paris in April 1921, where he stayed briefly. That summer he continued his journey through Switzerland and Italy, then traveled on through Albania, Greece, Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and Burma. He entered China in September 1922 but died of malaria on 30 September in Dali (Yunnan), about 1,700 km (1'056 miles) from his intended destination, Hong Kong. He was buried on a hillside near the town
