- Description: In a commemorative postcard, Massimo Leuret claimed to be undertaking a 60,000-kilometer (37,282 miles) journey around the world. According to Libera Stampa (January 7, 1921), he departed from Geneva on January 1, 1914, cycling across Germany, Russia, Siberia, Japan, and later through the South American republics. He reached France at Le Havre on November 30, 1920. The journey took place under the auspices of the Swiss Touring Club, which stipulated that he could only travel on foot or by bicycle across the continents. During the Atlantic crossing from New York to Le Havre, he worked for the Compagnie Transatlantique to finance his passage. Upon his arrival in Nice, he expected to be back in Geneva within six weeks, thereby completing a world tour that lasted seven years and covered 60,000 km (37,282 miles)
