Rodrigues Dora (w2443)
- Description: At only nineteen years old, the enigmatic Dora Rodrigues embarked on a walking journey around the world. She claimed to be the daughter of a wealthy diamond merchant from Amsterdam and reported that she had crossed every country in Europe on foot, as well as Egypt, Turkey, Canada, Mexico, and the United States. In 1912, American newspapers published article after article about the courageous and attractive young woman who supposedly carried “a .38-caliber revolver in true Western style”. Curiously, in the preceding years, no European newspaper made any mention of her supposed trek across Europe, leaving significant doubts about the authenticity of her story
