- Description: In the 1930s, Annemarie Schwarzenbach participated in several archaeological excavation campaigns in Iran and Syria. She published numerous articles about her travels in the United States; in 1939, she accompanied Ella Maillart on a long car journey that took them to India, passing through Iran and Afghanistan.
