When Kaikee Kharas, Rustam Ghandhi and Rutton Shroff were lost in the snow-clad mountains of Afghanistan in the mid 1930s on a nine-year cycling expedition around the world, they knocked on the door of a shepherd asking for food and shelter. The herdsman shared his humble meal with them and provided them place to sleep in, but was nowhere to be seen next morning. When the trio went looking for him in the snowy wastes, they found him deep in slumber and nearly dead. They had to rub his limbs and revive him.

Nell'ottobre 1900 l’egregio nostro concittadino dr. Roggero Dollfus partiva dal Ticino per recarsi a fare un viaggio intorno al globo. Fin dai primi giorni egli prese a scrivere regolarmente alla famiglia le proprie impressioni: le sue lettere, stese in lingua francese e certo non destinate dal suo autore alla pubblicità, portavano un carattere simpaticissimo di sincerità, di freschezza; di evidenza, che avvinse tutti coloro cui fu dato di leggerle. 

Sylvain Dornon établit à tout jamais la réputation des Landais en montant sur ses échasses jusqu'au deuxième étage de la Tour Eiffel lors de l'Exposition universelle de 1889. Cette démonstration était en fait une affirmation d'identité, au moment de l'extinction du système agro-pastoral dans les Landes de Gascogne.
