Karl Creelman, a turn of the century adventurer from Truro, became the first Canadian to bicycle around the world in 1902. This is the story of his two-and-a half-year odyssey, taken from Creelman's own diaries and news accounts of the time.

Humourous incidents and many hardships are experienced by this determined and resourceful young man. He ridesthrough fires and storms, often losing his his track in uncharted territory. Disease must be overcome and animals and bandits fought off. Still, the indefeatable cyclist enjoys his meetings wth strangers - some kind, some not - thriving as much on his misadventures as he does on his lucky breaks.

Rest not
Life is sweeping by
go and dare before you die.
Something mighty and sublime,
leave behind to conquer time.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
